Costa Rica - Brumas del Zurquí / Caturra / Natural (Green Coffee) 1KG

Costa Rica - Brumas del Zurquí / Caturra / Natural (Green Coffee) 1KG

This naturally processed Caturra comes from Beneficio Brumas Del Zurquí, a family-run micromill nestled in Costa Rica’s Central Valley, in the Heredia sub-region.

The mill is managed by fourth-generation producer Juan Ramón Alvarado Rodríguez and his family, receiving carefully selected cherries from neighbouring farms and working with a diverse range of varieties including Villa Sarchi, SL-28, Gesha and Caturra.

Since establishing the micromill in 2003, Juan has steadily expanded its capabilities, introducing new processing methods alongside an on-site quality lab and roastery. This allows the family to maintain greater control over quality throughout processing while continuing to support coffee-growing communities in the surrounding region.

This Caturra undergoes a classic natural process, with the coffee dried in the whole cherry. The result is a green coffee with generous sweetness and a rich, fruit-driven character, while retaining the familiar structure and balance of the Caturra variety.

This is also a coffee we know particularly well at Brew Methods, forming part of our current Hinata blend. We love it for the depth, sweetness and texture it brings to the cup, and we're excited to now make the same green coffee available for other roasters to explore.

Expect cooked and dried fruit, with sweet caramel sugar notes, and a creamy rounded character, with plenty of room to explore through roast development.

Expected flavour profile: Panela, stewed plum, raisin.
