This regional lot brings together coffees from smallholder farmers around Popayán, Colombia, processed through Beneficio San Rafael.

Produced from a blend of Caturra, Castillo and Colombia varieties, this is a great example of just how good a well-selected regional lot can be. It offers consistency and versatility while retaining considerably more character and clarity than we typically associate with coffees at this level.

In the cup, we find delicate florals, soft stone fruits and a caramel-like sweetness, with a clean structure and balanced acidity. While regional lots are often thought of primarily as blending coffees, this one has enough clarity and character to make a genuinely enjoyable filter coffee in its own right.

Its versatility also makes it an excellent foundation for blending. The caramel sweetness and structure provide a strong base for espresso, while its softer fruit and floral qualities leave plenty of room for more expressive components to sit alongside it. Taken slightly further in development, it also works beautifully as a balanced espresso or milk-based coffee.

For roasters looking for a dependable Colombian green with broad application, this is a particularly strong regional offering — accessible enough to use as a blender, but with enough quality and character to stand comfortably on its own.
