Cores Coffee Gold Filter
Introducing the Gold Filter, by Cores Coffee.
If you’re wondering – yes, it’s real gold. Cores Coffee gold filters are double plated with 24K gold. But it’s not just about the bling, there are some real advantages to brewing with gold.
Of all the different types of metal, gold is the least likely to oxidise. In fact, gold is prized for its non-reactive properties. It doesn’t rust or tarnish when exposed to air or water like many other metals, therefore it won’t impart any negative flavour into your coffee and can be used time and time again.
Cores Coffee gold filters also have a unique mesh structure. Unlike regular ‘pin-hole’ mesh, the golden filter has thin, elongated vertical slits. This allows for a smoother and quicker passage of water, while still holding back the coffee particles.
A fast extraction will help to bring out all the wonderful oils and acids out of your coffee quickly, without over-extracting and ending up with bitter flavours.
The gold filter is currently available in three different shapes if you wish to brew pour over; wedge, cone, and a flat-bottomed 1-cup filter. For those wishing to brew immersion, a steeping filter + double walled glass mug is also available. A little something for everyone.
One thing to note when brewing with metal is that your coffee will have more body. This is because more coffee particles and oils pass through the filter – however this also means your coffee will have more complexity.
What are your thoughts? Pretty cool eh? We certainly love them. If you do too, be sure to share this post with a friend. Happy Brewing!
